And he said, ‘Are these movies you want to be making?’ And I said, ‘No, I’m waiting for the scripts to come in.’ And he said: ‘You don’t seem like the kind of person who sits around and waits for the phone to ring. You read more books than anybody I know, so why don’t you start making them into your own material?’“And I thought about my mom, who said,
‘If you want something done, do it yourself.’”
This is actress Reese Witherspoon explaining how she became an actress as well as a producer, a producer whose fabulous series Big Little Lies won a ton of Emmys and will be back next season, this time with Meryl Streep added to the cast. And Reese has so many other projects in the pipeline.

Sometimes, no matter how skilled you are or how hard you’ve worked and paid your dues, things aren’t going to fall in line for you. So you have to just do something about it. Make the call. Call again if you don’t hear back. Walk up and introduce yourself. Ask for the business. Start something.  Do it yourself.
